"Lost in Woonsocket" bible study resource

SPSARV has published a Bible study companion resource on the film, "Lost in Woonsocket," written by Rev. Cynthia W. Sloan, SPSARV’s Program Associate. After viewing the film, the bible study enables congregations to have an in-depth discussion on homelessness and addiction for study and action. It also features personal testimonies from Rev. Brian Souza, who served as the pastor of the River United Methodist Church, and Rev. Susan Hager-Smith, a campus minister at Wesley Foundation, University of Washington.

The bible study aims to give viewers:
• A bird’s eye view of the progressive nature of addiction
• Awareness of how a simple relational intervention can make a difference
• Attentiveness to the reality that taking a risk is worthwhile even if the outcome does not meet your expectations
• An understanding of the value of Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12-step programs
• Knowledge of why we need to know how to connect ourselves to people and how to connect people to other people.
