Lost in Woonsocket
Lost and Found in America (LAFIA) is nearing the conclusion of a three-month tour of the critically acclaimed film LOST IN WOONSOCKET. The producers of the award-winning film and the film's subject, Normand Cartier, who has maintained a successful recovery since December 2005, have deeply touched the lives of thousands through the film screening and discussion. A global webcast on the film "Lost in Woonsocket". SPSARV hosted an interactive live webcast Nov. 20 on the film Lost in Woonsocket to raise awareness about addictions and recovery and inspire congregations to compassionately respond to substance abuse in their church pews and community.
Individuals and congregational ministries participated in the half-hour webcast, which was broadcast internationally on the Internet. This engaging and informative discussion with director John Chester and film subject Normand Cartier focused on addiction and the power of recovery. Rev. Cynthia W. Sloan, SPSARV Program Associate, facilitated the discussion on the film and challenged congregations to respond to substance abuse and its adverse effects on individuals, families and communities. The webcast also featured a segment on congregational drug and alcohol ministries with Debra Susan Webb of S. Pasadena United Methodist Church in S. Pasadena, CA, and Rev. Gary B.
